The N900 also runs MeeGo which is going to be the operating system for Nokia smart phones on Linux in the future. I'm not fond of certain things in MeeGo, not least because they moved away from Debian, but it is Free Software and is far, far more open than both Android and iPhone. Plus you can develop the way you want to; emacs and perl. Because everyone wants to use emacs and perl on their phone.
